William Henry ("Bill") Dalebout
1919-2014
William Henry ("Bill") Dalebout, age 95, died of natural causes on August 20, 2014, in Logan, Utah. He was born on January 17, 1919, in Ogden, Utah, a son of William and Berindina (Meijer) Dalebout. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Burbidge Dalebout. He is survived by his sons Richard Scott (Evelyn) Dalebout and William Terry (Dedee) Dalebout, and 11 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
Bill was a cheerful, hard-working, faithful and steady person in all phases of his life. He was proud of his Dutch heritage. He met his wife, Louise, while they were both serving as missionaries in the East Central States Mission of the LDS Church. Following their missionary service they were married on May 29, 1942, in the Salt Lake Temple, and for 64 years they enjoyed a very happy and committed marriage. He later served as Bishop of the Orem 13th Ward. Then, after Bill retired, he and Louise served as Church Representatives in Jerusalem.
Bill worked as a draftsman at Boeing Aircraft Company during World War II. After the war, he graduated from the University of Utah with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He then commenced work as an engineer with U.S. Steel. That was followed by work as an advisor at an Iranian steel pipe mill, and, later, he worked as a professional engineer with Torkelson Engineering.
There will be a viewing on Wednesday, August 27, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem, Utah. There will also be a viewing Thursday, August 28, from 9:00-10:30 a.m. at the LDS Chapel located at 1023 South 800 East, Orem, Utah. Funeral services will follow the viewing, starting at 11:00 am.
